Should I consider that to be feedback? :)

I'm just speaking from experience.

Great review, very comprehensive. The line about the gymnast landing
had me LOL.

Randy,a fair and well balanced review. The only thing I would ad is,for those
not inclined to spend the many hours learning to handle a GP car,a trip around
the 'Ring in the Ferrari is an experience not to be missed!

Randy,

Nice comprehensive review.  A couple of the gripes you have about not
being able to race the trainers or adjust the field to include slower
cars have been addressed on this forum, er newsgroup( sorry, habit
from old compuserve days) by Alison.  It might be nice to amend the
review to point to Alison's gpl page to reference how to do those
things.

>Nice comprehensive review.

Thanks.

Alison actually has looked at a draft of the review and supplied
feedback where she felt necessary.  We discussed the issues you raise
here, and I did allude to .INI file editing several times in my review
(something I normally would NOT do).  The bottom line, though, is that
this is a REVIEW, or a judgement of how well PAPYRUS did, not how well
WE can do by hacking into the game settings from outside the game, so
criticism in that regard was warranted.  Also, there is nothing in our
review format that allows me to link to others sites for help.  I
would gladly refer to Alison's fantastic site if the framework were
there, but its the kind of thing I can only do in the frame work of my
racing column or a strategy guide.

But you do see my dilemma when trying to score a game -- I have to
look at the decisions the developers made, and even though I praise
Papyrus for putting those settings in .INI files, there's nothing in
the doc or UI to tell the user how to alter difficulty levels or hack
to allow racing against trainer cars, so its not something I feel they
should get kudos for in the review (particularly when, from everything
they heard, they are against us doing that to begin with!)

Final thing...

It is possible to race with the Trainee and Advanced trainee (and Im even
sure it's possible over the net if you trust the other people and they all
edit the ini file for it).

Maybe you could update this ? I know it's not easy for Mr. Anybody to know
this (no documentation at all about this) but Randy you could write it on
how to make that available in your report (not sure if it's too late).

Allison has an explanation on her website in the FAQ section. It's pretty
easy..

Also note that while in the car pressing F1 (the standard Windows help
key) will bring up a list of the available keyboard shortcuts.

That's just it.  It's an undocumented hack.  I can't give Papyrus
points in a review for undocumented hacks.  I'll see about putting a
link to Alison's web site about this, if my editor will go for it.
