GP3 locks up. Help!

GP3 locks up. Help!

by Tex » Mon, 21 May 2001 23:16:08

I recently picked up GP3 after the price came down to a reasonable $20, for
a little variety from F1CS2K.  However, I can't even run a full lap on any
course, practice or race, before the game locks up and forces me to re-boot.
The demo runs fine, but for some reason the full version locks up.  I'm
running:

P3-933
128 MB
V5 5500
SB Live! Value
20 GB with plenty of swap file space
Act Labs Force RS

I've tried 4 different video driver revisions, from the last official 3dfx
release through to the V6 drivers, and none of them have helped.  I've tried
under DX8 and DX8a, but no luck.  I'm pretty sure it's a video
card/driver/setting issue, because when I run it under software mode
everything works fine.

Hopefully someone here can help, as I've scanned all the message boards I
can find, and none of them had any record of this problem.  Thanks for any
help!

Live Value; LWFF and it runs GP3 just fine.

You didn't specify the video driver you're using, so here's mine:

4.12.01.0666, dated 11-2-2000, running at 1024x768 at 16 Bit Color

I'm running Win98SE, and DX8.

I hope this helps...

GP3 locks up. Help!

That did it!  I tried going back to those drivers, ran a few quick races,
and experienced no lock-ups.  Thanks for the help.  Now I've got to go about
downloading all the add-ons and learning the driving model...
