[Just want to point out that there isn't an entry form any more.]
After I discovered this newsgroup, I though I was pretty hot stuff at
F1GP; I'd repeatedly slashed the records and won the championship at
ace level with ease. Then I discovered Hilden Sami's posted times and
setups - wow, was I slow or what?! So I embarked on a quest for the
fastest times and the best setups in the world - and so the HOF was
born (don't work, this isn't going to turn into an epic tale!). And
verily, the HOF grew and it's members multiplied, and the records tumbled
as DUG and IV and RS1 battled for position and I felt slower and slower...
Today's story teaches us that (a) there's always someone quicker, (b)
the default setups are crap, (c) always drive on Q tyres, and (d) when
F1GPv2 comes out all this will be forgotten as the battles begin
again... :-)
There endeth the lesson for today.

The way a got my most astronomical times was by jumping my frame rate up.
My 486 25sx can process about 13-15 frames a sec. If I set the rate to 25
it was like driving in Sloooowwww motion. I did this for a year before
realizing that at more reasonable frame rate I wasn't such a stud.

Do I detect a hint of jealousy? If you're allowed to jump chicanes,
a time of 1:13.869 (at least) is possible, averaging 152.6mph and
some serious suspension damage. :-)
At first, I didn't believe these times either...

I use the default setup in my simulation of 1992 Ligier. Perhaps
this is not in my right mind.
The problem I have, in trying to simulate poor performance, is that
the game does not allow selected drivers to fail to qualify. In order
to fail to qualify my Ligier, I have to drive an Arrows zB, and
hope the Ligier driver fails.
My time, by the way, at Imola, in a simulated 1992 Ligier, is 1:32.
This seems to provide the right mix of 24th, 25th, and 26th place finishes.
Can someone tell me T. Boutson's result at Imola 1992?

My sig is more pointless than yours.
Great stuff! Nice to know what setups were used to get the good times. It
means I can have a bash too! :-)
Thanks.
Jon
Thanks! I'll try that.
