Ubisoft F1rs or Monaco GP ?

Ubisoft F1rs or Monaco GP ?

Is it worth buying the new version of F1RS (the Monaco
one) or is the original good enough especially now it's
cheaper ?  Does the new version need a more powerful PC
than the original ?  And finally, do they both work with
Cyrix P166+ processors (I gather GPL won't) ?

Thanks

F1RS is my favorite game this year. I would recommend to buy it for you for
cheap price.
The game came out buggy and was improved with 10 patches. Two months after
the last
patch came F1RS2. I played the demo and read reviews in german magazines.
Frankly spoken,
its the same game for full price again. So buy the first one.

I play it with a P200 + Voodoo 1 card. It is playable with some details
off. Without the 3DFX-card
it would be unplayable.

Completely disagree! F1RS was my fave for a long time, but MGPRS2 is WAY
better. You only appreciate the differences once you've been playing for
some time. Better graphics, AI, handling, tracks, etc.

Likewise. If you're just messing around then stick to F1RS or buy the
Psygnosis product. Otherwise MGPRS is a well worthwhile improvement. Whether
it should have been an upgrade or not is a different question which has
clouded some minds.

If You use a joystick (like me) F1RS is very difficult to drive (very
"digital" like with keyboard).

MGPRS (I've played the demo) is much smoother to steer.

I don't think so. On the contrary: MGPRS is quicker (menus, loading).

I don't know. I only know, that both work very fine on my K6-2-300 :-)

So buy the "update" - it's worth the money.

On no account buy the Psygnosis product it's worthless (even the graphics,
though of reasonable quality, are completely worthless - the curb is almost as
high as the cars) - I won't go into the countless other ways that this product
stinks. F1RS on the other hand is a very good sim but MGP is better still,
something that is not immediately apparent until you've done a few races. Sadly
they haven't given us very few additional enhancements - in particular net play
is still limited to dial-up ipx connections.

Does anyone know how it performs on an AMD k62-300 with an 8MB AGP ATI
XpertPlay graphics card. I have had a lot of problems with other racing
games due to the amount of floating point maths they use.

Oh my, if you think THAT is a reason not to buy it you don't eve CARE about
what MGPRS2 IS!

That's really the dumbest reason given why not to buy MGPRS-2.

BTW: I can recommend MGPRS2 to everyone!
