...use the y-axis for both accelerating and braking (up - accelerate,
down brake)? in the controller options section, if i set accelerate to
up and then try to set braking to down, the accelerate option is reset
to blank.

also, is there a way to continuously see your lap times during training?
i have to stop racing to check out my times.

finally, what is a good lap time at spa before i should consider moving
up to the next level of car - i don't think my 7 minute laps are quite
good enough yet ;)

thx in advance.

If you have MGPR, why would you want the track in F1RS?
If you don't have MGPR, where would you get the track from?

Just curious...

I have no problems setting up my joystick to use gas up and brake down.

He means he's got the demo and wants the A1 ring in F1RS to include in a
championship season, as do I. Any ideas how it's done ?

You should be able to, double check the controller option and calibration in
windows and then again in GPL. As for lap times, practice, occasionally use
the faster car for a while and then move back to a slower car, after
switching back and forth you will be faster and eventually move up. The fast
guys are doing 3:15 - 3:20 at Spa.

in f1rs or any other game. i'm stumped.

3:15 - 3:20. wow. is that with gp cars or trainers?

Oh boy!! It better be with the GP cars... if anyone can do it in a
trainer... SEND ME THE REPLAY NOW!! :o)))

Anything around 3:30 is pretty decent, in my opinion. I was in an online
race the other day, and this one driver in particular is extremely fast in
his Ferrari (did mostly 3:23-3:26's). Nobody could touch this guy for lap
times... BUT he finished second! The guy that won the race did a best of
(3:33.xx), with most of his laps in the 3:36-> range. That's 13 seconds a
lap slower!.. BUT he was able to avoid all of the chaos that was happening
behind him, so he won easily.

We had a pretty good group of racers there for that race, I'd say you need
to be under 3:40 to be competitive. The key is consistency and staying out
of trouble. You might not win races with these times, but you can be sure
you won't finish last!

Ronny,

I'm talking about taking the Austria track from the demo and copying it into
F1RS !

It appears that MGPR is not a big enough improvement over F1RS to buy it !

Oh, I very much think there is a lot of improvement. Switching from MGPR
to
F1RS you would notice a big difference in the handling of the cars,
frame rate
and features.

I totally agree with you Ronny. Just installed MGPRS2 yesterday and it indeed is
a hell of an improvement over F1RS on almost everything.
One thing though: The menu structure really sucks. E.g.: How to save a game when
you're halfway a qualification/race/training? You have to quit the session after
which you're able to save it. In GP2 (up until yesterday my favourite racing
simulator) you can save a game at every moment you want, returning at that point
later in time by restoring the game. In Ubisoft's sims you can only save in
between the different sessions. Menu handling is also very slooow (probably
because of the fact that everything needs to be loaded from CDROM again and
again).

Returning to the game itself: BUY MGPRS!! It's sure a lot more realistic in car
behaviour than F1RS was. Browsing through this newsgroup I hear a lot of positive
sounds on GPL too. It's a pity I'm not really fond on historical racing though!

Yepp, the menu structure is still boneheaded, but now it works
blindingly fast,
doesn't it?
