Check the Matrox web site. It's got a driver for GPL that'll run a G200
at about 28 fps. Just enough faster to realize how much nicer 36 fps
would be and make you run out to buy a Voodoo 3000 or so...

Does anyone know of a way to improve the GPL frame rates on a Matrox
millenium G200?  I'm only getting about 18-19 FPS in 640X480.  I recall some
talk months ago about a software "fix" that would simulate 3D acceleration
on this card.  If there is where can I find it?

If I add a 3D accelerator card, which do you recommend?

My system is:
PII 350
128 MB RAM
Matrox Millenium G200 8MB SGRAM
SoundBlaster 128

Best way to get good framerates out of a G200:  Give it a Voodoo2.

Seriously, the Matrox driver is CRAP...adding a V2 did so much more.  The
lazy bums put out a lame patch in October '98 and never gave it a second
look.

Sounds like there's a major problem on your computer GPL is not excactly the
newest game out here and it should run a lot lot lot lot better then that on
yor system.

Sounds like you are running in software mode. GPL only supported 3dfx and
rendition and then an opengl patch was released, but this wasmainly for TNT
cards - but worth trying it to see if your card will run inopengl - then
again - did Matrox ever get round to producing an opengl driver for the
G200 - and even if so - may not work for your card - would notwork for a
Riva ZX 128 card I had.
