I have a PII 450 with 128mb ram, and voodoo2. With everthing thing on high
i'm only getting 19fps in the pits and starting grid with all 19 cars on.
once we start rolling away I'm getting between 19-36fps depending on how
many cars are around me. Is this right? shouldn't I be getting more?

Monster sound M80 sound card.

Your correct about the 36 max frame. I'm not worried about that I am worried
about the 19 FPS low. I thought I would get at least 26fps for the low with
a PII 450 and 128MB ram.

Nope, with detail on max, your figures sound right (PII-504, 128Mb,
Voodoo2SLI, SBLive!).

To get it quite usable, drop the detail bias to 50%. (Leave everything else
on). It makes ALL the difference. (You're still not going to get 36fps by
the pits and at the start, though....

I am running a PII-450 w/128mb RAM also.  I have the detail bias at approx
75% and all graphics on.  I get about 26-28 fps in the pits and at the start
if I qualify poorly (I'm at least 10th or worse).  The rest of the time, I
get a solid 36 fps.

shoot, i've got a bullshit system (until thursday!) that i get a max of 13 FPS
with all options turned off and just in practise mode. 19 FPS would be a luxury.

A question about your SB Live: does it work faultlessly in GPL for you?

I have big problems with my new SB PCI128 which I got just for the 4
speaker
3D sound, so if there's proof that the Live works, I'll be getting it
instead.

No problems with GPL. Old drivers had a problem with joystick recognition
(?!), but latest ones gave no probs.

For what it's worth, changing from 4 to 16 sounds gives NO performance hit.
