Rally Championship Xtreme - bug in the repair screen?

Actualize's "Rally Championship Xtreme" has recently been re-released in the
UK on the budget label "Sold Out", so it's presumably enjoying a second wind
of sales at the moment. I bought it a few weeks ago, and I think it's
generally quite good, but I've run into a bug that means that playing a
championship with more than one player is a frustrating waste of time. I've
looked all over the net to see if anyone has a workaround, but I can't find
a mention of anyone else having encountered the problem anywhere, which,
seeing as I've found it impossible to avoid it if there's more than one
player, is pretty baffling.

What's happening is this: after the first two stages player one gets the
option to repair any damage to his car. When he's finished, the menu options
move on to player 2 - but the repair screen still has player 1's damage
status on it, and all my attempts to get player 2's damage status on screen
and repairable have met with failure. The net result is that only player 1
gets to repair his car and all other players can kiss any chance of winning
goodbye.

Has anyone else run up against this problem? It doesn't look like the sort
of thing that results from a corrupted installation disk, so I can't believe
I've just got a duff copy. I don't think it's likely to be OS related, but
for the record I'm running it on a Dell XP Pro machine (XP is supported,
according to the box, although it only mentions XP home) with an ATI Radeon
9800 and a Microsoft Sidewinder force-feedback wheel. I've tried all the
compatibility modes, but still no joy.

Can anyone help?!
