Nascar 2003 problems

Installs ok, starts sierra video OK, I hear racecars, then crash and
immediate reboot.
My system:
Intel D845PEBT2 MB
P4-2.4 533FSB
MSI TI4200 Gf4 128mg
512 ram
DX9.0
Tried 3 latest drivers from Nvidia and last 2 from MSI
Win XP PRO will all updates.
Tried with and without Intel Appl. Accer. IAA
DXDiag checks OK.
Never had a reboot till this game.
Wrote Sierra tech support....they suggested different video drivers
No solution yet..Thought I would try experts on this forum.
Anybody running Nascar 2003 on a Intel D845pebt2 or Dell 4550?
Suggestions????
Thanks...

What resolution did you setup the game for?  Does it match the desktop
resolution?

Did you use detonator destroyer when you started switching between video card
drivers to ensure a fresh install of video drivers?

Have you tried an earlier version of DirectX, like 8.0 or 8.1?  Make sure you
use something like DxBuster or the instructions posted earlier in this
group to install an earlier version of directx cleanly.

I'd have to believe its a video card conflict, and these are the first three
obvious things to check.

hth,
jeff

Thanks for suggestions...
What resolution did you setup the game for?  Does it match the desktop
resolution?  yes tried 3 different settings at both 16 and 32 bit.
Did you use detonator destroyer when you started switching between video card
drivers to ensure a fresh install of video drivers?   Yes just ran it and install 41.09 drivers as suggested by sierra tech support...same results at the same point each time...
Have you tried an earlier version of DirectX, like 8.0 or 8.1?  Make sure you
use something like DxBuster or the instructions posted earlier in this
group to install an earlier version of directx cleanly.  No will try  ???
Keep suggestions coming.

You don't mention your soundcard, so I'll assume that it's an on-board
chip.  If so , you might want to try using DxDiag to turn the
DirectSound slider down from "Full Acceleration" to "Standard
Acceleration" and see if it makes a difference.

Mr. Eric Busch you are the man....
After countless video driver reloads and reboots and upgrades, downgrades,
etc...
Your suggestion to move the slider on sound card worked perfect.
I am very happy and the game graphics look good.  I can not thank you
enough.
I would like to suggest that if others have a problem this and many other
forums are the best tech support available.
I will say that seirra email support was fast response but nothing like this
place.
Eric, Thanks again......

A happy future racer,

What soundcard are you using?  Might help others to identify the problem.

Yet another example of why onboard sound/video/network stuff is EVIL.

Sure, it allows you to save a few bucks on your system build-out, wut
at what real expense?  The inability to use the hardware to it's
fullest potential?

I absolutely abhor onboard hardware features like that. It ends up
being a waste of solder and a hassle in Windows.

The onboard sound was use and when combined with DX9 at full acceration was
the problem.....I have to agree that onboard sound cards are not the best
option but I used it because until now it worked well.
Can not argue with the comments.
Just glad a workaround was found.
