BESIDES THE MULTIPLAYER, which is a better game, stuff like graphics,
physics, and maybe AI ?

*puts on flame retardant suit*

Handling - Tie
Car Setup - F1 2002
AI - F1 2002 (the AI still sucks, but they aren't just little robots
toodling around...much more like an inferior GPL AI in the sense of
making real mistakes rather than the robots on rails in N2002)
Damage/Wear Model - F1 2002
Car Tuning - F1 2002
Controller Setup - N2002
Simulates a Boring Series - Tie
Graphics - Tie
Extensibility - F1 2002
***ity - GPL

I'm a Papy diehard who also loves rallying, but I've uninstalled all
of my sims except for GPL and F1 2002.  Nothing else combines realism
and fun to the same degree (hoping the new Magnetic Fields rally game
changes that).  Also, even F1 in its current emasculated incarnation
is still a grand sport.

car setup, id say theres not much more to nascars to set up than what
modelled in the game.

on the other hand theres a veritable feast of further things that each and
every f1 team tinker with on their cars.

gfx on my gf3 look better in n2002, but then my processor is lowly p3 550.

I play both, depending on my mood and how many others i want to be able to
drive into before my car falls apart :)

Graphics for me - N2k2 wins over - looks more organic and real than F12k2
Physics - Well -I'd say N2k2 again - you can really feel what the cars doing
as it slides around
AI  - whats that :D

To compare the two isnt fair really - as they're simulating such very
different series

N2002 vs F1-2002

There is actually no competition here.
Since I started racing N2k2, the ISI sims feels like toys.

Especially lacking in F1-2001 is the feeling of driving fast in a car. You
know, it bumps and leans as you do small corrections to the wheel. You
really can feel the tires working in Nascar 2002. F1-2001 is flat world,
even in eau rouge...

The papy sim has very much crisper graphics as well.

Just for the record: I'm a european, a Frenzen fan, and I really like F1. I
just hope papy or the wests could give us an openwheel sim before next
summer.

No flames here, I would second all of that...

That was probably true for F12001, but the lighting in F12002 is much
improved and if you're still not convinced, then RH carsets certainly tip
the balance in favour of F12002.

Very hard to compare, but I would disagree.  I think F12002's physics are at
least as good or more likely better than N2002.  In fact, you're statement
is usually the first thing that people say when they play F12002.

They're both terrible, but I actually prefer N2002's AI (just)

Agreed - they're both fabulous and along with GPL, the only sims worth
playing..

Sounds very much like you haven't seen F12002 or even played F12001 for
longer than 10 minutes....

N2002 vs F1-2002

I don't know why I wrote F1-2001. I actually meant F1-2002.
I bought both F1-2001 and F1-2002 the same day as they came out.
When I tried the F1-2002 demo I was overly impressed, and I really liked the
full game when I got it.

Since I started playing N2k2 online, I haven't played F1-2002 that much at
all.
I really like it's moddablility (F1-2002), and I spend more time browsing
F1-2002 forums than nascar forums because there's so much happening.

...but...  Every time I try to drive F12k2 nowadays, it feels it lack so
much visual clues. I realise that an F1 car has a suspension so stiff it
could never compare to a nascar car, but I cannot imagine that theese cars
doesn't bump and shiver at a straight in 250 km/h?

Another thing that can color your perspective is your hardware. From
what I've seen, both F1 2001 and 2002 really "sing" best, when they're
running w/ a 1.4Ghz CPU+ & Geforce3-level graphics.  The Papy sims, on
the other hand, run very well on older hardware (like the PIII 733 &
V5 I run). Don't get me wrong, I like the EA F1 sims just fine, but
they don't seem as responsive as Papy's stuff on my rapidly-aging
system.

YMMV,
