GP3 vs F1-2002

Well here is the latest

"release date of Grand Prix 3 listed for 2nd August 2000 in US, but release
date of GP3 is listed for 3rd July 2000 in Europe so this makes the
situation very confusing... which release date is correct!"

So, maybe F1-2000 will be the best F1 sim THIS year after all....remember
Half-Life, Diablo 2 ... the list goes on.

Also, can I just say I am tired of seeing all the real racing sims open to
the European audience first. RC2K, GP500, CMR1&2, LeMans, WSC. How hard
would it be to release them WORLDWIDE at the same time?

Are most Americans these tasteless, water-my-racing-down,  is there a
deathmatch drones the publishers make us out to be or is that the perception
because we stand in line at the store and have to chose between one and the
same....much like our political system. Your choice is ***or ***and you
picked ***so you must like it - here is some more.

So - here is wishing all the European distributors and stores my best
because it is you, who I will be sending my money too....thus fueling the
system that I so hate.

I was simply stating a few other "legends while in the making" that suffered
very lengthy release delays. They have nothing to do with racing....just
pointing out that everyone is so keyed on a game that hasn't been released
yet (gp3) and has been delayed more than a few times. I think HalfLife took
Game of the Show at E3 two years before it ended up making it to the
shelves..

We'll start letting you Yankees have our games on time when you start
letting us have your movies on time ;-)

Seriously, though, how do you manage to classify Le Mans as a "real
racing sim"???

Yes, I rember Half-Life, Diablo 2 ain't out yet, but what have those
games got to do with F1 2000 being the best sim THIS year?

It "kinda" makes sense, all the titles you mentioned are based on
Mainly European racing series.  Publishing deals across the Atlantic are
sometimes very complex.  {go to the flightsim newsgroup and ask about
the problems DID had getting EF2000 to the states}
You'll probably find N3, NL and other US sims are released here first
then in Euroland.

Oh, ok, now I understand, it really didn't make sense to me  :)
I didn't knew HalfLife took so long. HalfLife was a game out of the
blue for me. I read my first review of it after it allready was in the
stores. I was amazed that I didn't read sooner about it, it's one of
my all time favorites! Never liked Diablo though, not much depth in
that game, so I won't hold my breath for Diablo 2.

They may both be correct.
Distributorship rights are not automatically global: contracts have to be
thrashed out between production house and distributor before an agreement
can be reached on when the product hits the retail shelves.

In addition, particularly with a F1 game, the idea is to first get it to
those parts of the world where the market is the strongest....thus the
reason for the USA being in the second schedule.  (Note....when a NASCAR
game is released it usually saturates the USA before going international).

Simple marketing principles are applied and they do not take into account
whether you might be champing at the bit to get your hands on a copy.

You've been working for those legal gits too long Bruce... it *IS* a global
market nowadays. I want that sim the same day Joe in Blahblah gets it.

Of course, market economy has long ceased to be about what the consumer
wants (if it ever was), as it in itself has become a business people profit
by.
