I've noticed more and more messages about all the up coming games. Whether
it's WSC, GP3, N4 or some of the current games like F12K., I think that GPL
is no longer the majority over all other things. This shows that the sim
racing community IS ready to move on, and except other games as possibly the
king if they earn it.

I don't think GPL will be going anywhere, as it should be the most
challenging game for a long time (Unless someone comes out with another
ultra realistic F1 games of any era, which just don't sound like it's going
to happen, GP3 sounds pretty easy, jump in and drive comes to mind.)

I'm thinking Nascar 4 and WSC are the games that are going to make a
challenge at the crown of simulation king. Nascar 4 should by all means be
more up to date than GPL, unless papy scales back instead of forward. WSC
looks like it's right there too, but we have yet to really see. Like Earlier
said GP3 sound a bit easy, I mean Colin McRae couldn't even get around the
track (Let alone some of the F1 drivers I'll leave nameless) so we shouldn't
be able to jump right in and start making runs at Schumacher. GPL made you
earn it, so should every other sim. That's what makes it fun...

When you spin out in GPL you know it's because of your lack of ability, you
can see what and why, you can feel the reason things are happening. In
MGPRS2 it just seems like you spun out because your not very good at the
game or something....

So with that said, lets hope that r.a.s. is right, and the next games will
come along and give the same experience.

The 3 next "majors" (WSC, N4, GP3) will be an extension of the experience
that GPL ignited for all of us.  Of course we will stay nostalgic to GPL
since it was the first, like some people are still nostalgic over F1GP or
Nascar Racing 1, but the next titles will be incredible, and Im really happy
they won't be released at the same time!

We are in a much better health than presently the flight sim community.
They are really taking a hit these days ;-(

Death to the infidel!  He invoked the name of another sim without
including the obligatory "but it's not GPL, and it probably won't
measure up, but I'm looking forward to it because it looks like fun,
but I know I won't enjoy it as much as GPL" dislaimer.

<SNIP>

When you spin out in Viper Racing, you know it's because of your lack
of ability, you can se what and why, and you can feel the reason things
are happening.  When you spin out in Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed,
you know it's because of your lack of ability, you can se what and why,
and you can feel the reason things are happening.  When you spin out in
F1 2000, you know it's because of your lack of ability, you can se what
and why, and you can feel the reason things are happening.  When you
spin out in Dirt Track Racing, you know it's because of your lack of
ability, you can se what and why, and you can feel the reason things
are happening.  Still, it all comes down to "but it's not GPL."  Which
further proves, I suppose, that this forum is not GPL-centric . . .

Uh, yeah, what you said.  In the meantime, thank God this forum isn't
GPL-centric -- otherwise, we'd be in danger of missing out on some
potentially-great sims, in the oh-so-unlikely event that one should
come along, of course.

Just wait til GP3 ships...  I'll bet that a good 75% of the messages
on this group will be about that game...

Yes, we are all e***d about the new stuff, try them out, and go back to
GPL.....

This reply is soooooo spot on <G>

Maybe the comparison is a little bit over the top, but Kai's message
reminded me an awful lot of the "I'm not a racist but I don't like
***s"-quote. If only they would paint them _white_  (absolutely no
offence intended)

Which suddenly makes me wonder: are there any coloured fellows around
here? For some reason (there are so few around?) there seem to be very
few links between blacks/reds/yellows and racing. Surely not a
talent-thing.

Anyone?

I would agree on that one, BUT: For how long? GPL-posts are here for almost
two years now, and still dominate.........

I must deeply apologize, due to an unknown error of my newsreader/-writer
the statement you mentioned was not included in my post, I guess I must
consider a complete reinstallement of Windows now, this is worse than a
virus or a second place at Spa :)

Umm, shouldn't you have <SARCASM> and <IRONY> tags at the beginning as well.
I had no idea you were being sarcastic because your HTML was so poor
