Hi All,

new p.c with a 'Pentium4 2ghz, 512 meg Rambus and a GeForce3' I have loaded
both the 'Dx3d fix and the Speed fix' from Pappy....but I am getting crashes
to the desktop , I have found out that if I drive in the f10 mode then I can
drive for maybee...3/4 minutes,'tho if I drive in the***pit it normally
crashes before I'm out of the pits..??? I have been out of the 'loop' re:
GPL for a while, and was hoping one of you guys maybee has some idea or a
solution to this....Any input 'preciated.
Cheers

Interesting.  Mine says 1.2.0.1.  But I just thought I'd take a spin, and
all it does is give me the awful color first screen and go back to the
desktop.  LOL!  Back to the drawing board!  Bummer!

Are you by any chance running Windows XP?  I just found the problem with my
GPL install.  I had turned off the Indexing Service trying something else,
and forgot to turn it on.  As soon as I enabled it again, everything is
fine.

<snip>

1.2.0.2 is the one after one of the patches (D3D or speedfix - can't
remember). Totally VROC-compatible :-)

Chris - any idea why I'd have the same problem you had, but mine's win2k?
Start the program, splash screen, dump to desktop.  When I first got the
computer it did the same thing.  Couldn't get it to run.  We updated our
machine images, and it worked for about a week.  Now it's doing the same thing
again, and I can't fix it.
This computer has a TNT2 video card.  Frustrating because it worked for a
while, so it can't be the hardware.  And, I'm sure it would work FINE with
win98se, as my other two 3D card-equipped systems do.  I have another win2k
system that DOES work, but it doesn't have a 3D card, so I can't use it as a
server for many tracks.

Not really sure, Eldred.  I haven't run Win2K much, and never with GPL on
it, so I really not sure of the inner workings.  Is it possible any of your
video settings may have changed?  Did you maybe run the utility which
adjusts various components on the video card - and has the slightly
undesired affect of also modifying the various standard clocking?  Have you
disabled/enabled vsync?  Have you installed any add-ons lately?  Grasping at
straws here a little.  8-)
