f1 2002 - demo unplayable?

by Steve Rawlinso » Wed, 17 Jul 2002 09:09:10

I recently bought GP4. Pretty good I thought.

I bought f1 2001 a while ago but didnt play it much because it didnt
support ff. I got the patch, and that was pretty good too.

I hve a p3 800 with a geforce 4 ti4600 and get excellent frame rates
in both games at 1280x1024.

After  reading comments in this group about f1 2002 being better
than GP4 I d/l the demo. It runs at 1-2 fps. I am not exagerating.

Here is my sysinfo.txt:

CPU Type: Intel Pentium III 800 MHz
System RAM: 128 MB
DirectX Version: 4.08.01.0881
Video Card: 3D Blaster 4 Titanium 4600
Video RAM: 152 MBytes
Full Triangle Rate: 17.8 MTri/sec
High Triangle Rate: 19.3 MTri/sec
Medium Triangle Rate: N/A
Minimum Triangle Rate: N/A
Recommended Object Detail: Medium
Recommended Texture Detail: High

Any suggestions?

AMD 1.33 T Bird

GF2 MX 400

128 PC133 Ram

21.4 MTri/sec

Geeze, I dunno how you guys can handle those low poly rates. =)

Getting 34.1 mil at 1240x1024x16 with 3x FSAA.  Same card as the
original poster.

Makes me wonder what drivers he's using.  I can't imagine the CPU
would be holding the poly count back that much.

I agree the card outperforms the CPU. But GP4 and F12001 run just fine.
F12002 is a slideshow. Must be more to it than that.

Same problem here.  Running a Micron P4 1.5 GHz, 512K RAM, Leadtek GeForce3
Ti 500.  Demo ran at ~2 fps.  F1 2001 and Nascar 2002 run like the***ens.

I have ordered the retail product and hopefully can get this worked out.

34.1 mill?  pfft - you need about 50 mill before the game runs *smooth* ; )

I get 46.0 mil at 1024x768x16 with FSAA turned off fwiw. =p

As far as I can tell anything above 30 is pretty much overkill except
on replays.
