Since you seem to be in good connection with ISI, are they aware that the
helmets are really small, making the car look like a 8 meter long tank ?

Great shots though, i'm really starting to look forward to this thing.

I'm not in really good connection with them... I just e-mailed them once and
they replied fairly snappy.  And this link I found from BHMS.  And I forgot
to bring up the helmet\cockpit thing.  If I write back again I shall ask
that.

Also these pics I have seen before, I guess gamespot and BHMS just found out
about them.

wrong.....why cant EA produce a proper sim.........why are so many people
saying its a gp3 beater without having played either??????

personally........i think it looks a bit crap.......gc will make a decent
f1 sim (the version i played was cool), but id love to see what Papy could

I know some don't like them (drivers arms/hands) but I do.  Just curious
if anyone knows...

They took "mini-me" for motion caption as a driver hehehe.  I might look
weird to say that, but I'll simply not buy it if the heads are that small.
Call me nitpicker but darn if they can't do that correctly they are not
taking the thing seriously!

Pure marketing on the naive people.  The 99 name is already saturated,
especially in the F1 racing market.

They can, look at airsims.  Or SBK.  Or SCGT (somehow).

GP3 was dead the moment they had the arrogance to say the Internet is not
ready for their superior sim.  It's the opposite probably, thus in the year
2000 I hope the majority of people have no interest for offline racing,
which is so... 1996.  But F1 2000 won't be anything without accurate
physics.  Not Ubisoft physics (hehe).

Its called 2000 cause it will use the 2000 season and will include the Indy
track. The car pics right now are 99 place holders, they CAN NOT release
pictures of the 2000 cars. EA is not making this sim, Image Space Inc. is.
EA is only the publisher. ISI made SCGT which was a good racing sim. You
should not judge this sim before trying it. I visited ISI and drove it and
its the best racing sim I have ever driven.

What I find funny is how the helmets are small, like it matters
because sim-drivers play in***pit mode, it's not as if you can see
your helmet anyway. When you're racing, you don't look for the helmet!
:)

I think F1 2000 is looking very nice, and I'll be buying it
straightaway. The nay-sayers can wait....and wait.....and wait for
GP3. I'll probably buy it too, but F1 2000 comes out in 5-6 weeks
(March 24th is the Aussie release date), and I want my F1 fix!

Art,

Could you give us just a bit more on what made f1 2000 so special?  What in
particular made it better than, say, SCGT, MGPRS2, GPL, etc.?  Your hints
are just too frustrating for the rabid.  ;)

It's a fact, the majority has NO interest in online racing (can't
afford it, have low speed connections, etc.)

Let me just say that...oh, never mind! ;^)

I started to knee-jerk, and say that GPL will
still be the best sim.  Truthfully, though,
with driver aids and things, most people will
probably like it a lot better than GPL.  It
does deliver a GPL-type driving experience
with all the aids turned off.

I think that in terms of realism, taking into
account FF, AI, and less than realistic
instrumentation in the***pit (a'la GP2),
GPL can still be considered best.  Considering
all-around driveablity for beginners and experts
alike, F12K may well turn out to be the best sim
ever.

ISI needs to make sure they nail down
the AI and FF.  Those could easily turn out
to be weak points.

Yes a lot will still say GPL is the best even after F1 2000 and GP3 comes
out, but I think a lot of people are sick of GPL. Me being one of them. I
never was a fan of those "old cars." When GPL came out I loved it. It was by
far the most realistic racing sim when it came out. But not being a fan of
that kind of racing make me loose interest in GPL after 1 year. (I raced
ICR2 for almost 3 years for comparison). F1 2000 will probably be the best
modern racing sim when it comes out. GP3 might be better or not, I dont know
I havent raced GP3. But F1 2000 impressed me very much. Look what ISI did
with SCGT and image 1 year's worth of improvements with F1 cars.
