Wait for F1 from UbiSoft.  It looks awesome on 3dFX and has a very good
driving model, too.  Personally, I didn't like NFS2.  Wasn't really a
simulation, but some people like that.

You'll get many differing opinions on the above, but IMHO the
best way to show off what a 3Dfx card can do with a racing sim
there's non better than F1RS.

More info is available at the Unofficial F1RS page:

...and at Ubi Soft:

F1 from Ubisoft doesn't look better than CART PR at all!
It looks just like Formula 1 on playstation with minor graphics upgrades.

Is it just me or F1 Psygnosis looked better than CART PR?  Besides,
you can't run CART PR on max graphics (i have P166 with R3D).

P.S. Ubisoft F1RS is great!

Big difference between looks like and plays like. CPR may look good, but......I
think the subject has been covered.

I think you should try F1RS before making such a remark.  The
idea is to lend a hand in helping make an educated choice, not
steer away based on a guess by someone viewing screen shots.

Cheers!

I don't have F1 Playstation. What I do have is F1RS and CPR. Except
for the user interface, F1RS is superior in every respect. The
graphics (3dfx mode - haven't bothered with D3D) are stunning. With my
humble P200 Classic, 32Mb, Flash3DFx i have everything turned on, a
full field, rain etc, etc and brilliant frame rate except for the very
beginning of a race (e.g. the hairpin on the first lap at Monaco).
Wheel spin matches engine sound, AI is effective (too early to say
more yet) and it gives an incredible experience.

On the down side, the menu system is awful - it seems to take ages to
get to wherever you want to be - even with a full install. You also
need the damn CD in the drive all the time and it is not easily
customisable. Sound is crappy and the throttle is incredibly
sensitive.

Most importantly, it comes down to this - F1RS plays well in all
aspects. CPR is currently only suitable for hotlapping or the zone
(ducks for flames). However, having just recieved CPR (from the CD-ROM
Shop in Canada) I have every intention of keeping it and trying the
patch - it has enormous potential. It really is a lot of fun on the
zone. It's just that try an offline race is incredibly unsatisfying.

Just my opinions - I would recommned any lover of open wheel Sims to
get both.
