I know this is not quite a race sim but any help most appreciated.
My saved games will not load, the load bar moves across the screen when it
gets to the end all i hear is a ding then the screen locks up !!!

Try to save another session and see if it works then.  You might have a
corrupted file.  If that doesn't work, you've got a faulty memory card.  I'm
guessing you're using a PS2 memory card: I don't think prior Play Station
memory cards work with PS2.

This is supposedly a known problem that will be fixed in the upcoming
patch

ah, that would be the old problem with the first faulty crack, then. :)
download a newer no-cd-patch.  drvgtacf.rar works.
