Wanted to ask a question since I'm new to the Nascar 2003 Racing
software and am setting up a server for a group of kids to use.  I
want to hopefully be able to watch from a dedicated server and choose
what car/driver and camera view is being displayed on the server
monitor.  For some reason that does not work right now unless I join
the game as a racer and retire before the green flag.  Is there a way
to just set the race up and start it and monitor and administer it as
the kids race?  Without joining and retiring?  Thanks for the help. I
have all cars/skins loaded on all workstations so the cars display
properly but I just can't seem to get the server to view the cars etc.

Hope that I can get some help from any of you. Have read through quite
a few posts but haven't seen one specifically addressing the following
which I've been trying to get information on.

From the Server/Machine that everyone connects to to race in a local
environement, can I pick which view I want to see? Meaning can I pick
to view what Driver 1 or Driver 4 is doing at any given time? Is there
a general view that shows where cars are in respect on the track for a
general audience to watch?

I can do this if I start the race and retire before the green flag.
But just want to host the race for the kids and monitor it from the
dedicated server to watch and display specific drivers with the
different camera views (like they do for the Nascar races on TV) so
the parents can watch and have some fun while chatting amongst
themselves. Also while the race is going on can the server play a
replay of a wreck, or a lead change etc..etc. Hoping to connect this
to a Big Screen or Projector so more than just the players can watch.

If anyone has ideas or suggestions please let me know. I can get the
server connected with additional players but for some reason it won't
let me pick which driver to view and/or watch etc..etc. Thanks in
advance.

I know this isn't exactly what you want, but have you checked out that
NascarTV software.  I forget what its exactly called, but someone here
will no. It lets you broadcast the race, in basically real time, to
anyone who has the client software installed on their machine.

Its pretty primitive, in that it only shows the track like a game
board, with little chits running around it showing where the drivers
are .  But this is about the closest thing I can think of to what
you're wanting to do.

Sorry I can't think of the name of this piece of software, but google
or another post requesting it should get ya there.

As far as I know, when NR03 is launched as a dedicated server the sim
doesn't show any 3D graphics.  That keeps the requirements low for the
server box, but makes it impossible (AFAIK) for anyone viewing the server to
see the race.  I know that on my league server, the "replay" window is black
while the sim is running.

Have you tried manually hosting from the server machine, and simply not
running any laps with the host (server) car?  That may work, and it would
allow you to view the race real time from any camera angle and car you
choose.  Even if the sim retires that player at the start of the race, I
*think* you'll be able to watch the race.
