from http://www.racesimcentral.net/
"Sony have confirmed a PC version of Gran Turismo 3 is been worked on along
side GT4 for the PS2. Been developed along side GT4 which will feature
online play, makes you think the PC version would have online play aswell,
maybe PC and PS2 uses will meet one day."

Here is some more info but I don't know what language it's in.  Someone care
to translate?
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
A dale stoji rozhodne za zminku, ze Sony Polyphony vyvijeji Gran Turismo 4,
ktere bude mit online dispozice a take chystaji PC verzi nazvanou Gran
Turismo Professional!

The "professional" suffix makes me think that they may be working on beefing
up the physics engine.  I personally think it'll be a arcade physics port
for the PC version but I hope I'm wrong.

GT3/pc being developed alongside GT4 doesn't imply to me that they are
upgrading three to have the features of 4.  99% of all console ports are
just that...a rush job leaving the console features intact at the expense of
the PC version, usually even down to the way menu's are designed for
gamepads.  And certainly, items like mulitple controllers and split axis are
most likely mere dreams.
Don't wanna sound pessimistic, but name one console title that was
IMPROVED when it was ported over to PC.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is the only one I can think of....most other ports
are rubbish.

What are you expecting though anyways?  Is GT3 a SIMULATOR? I don't think
so..

All the controls of the cars and such are all designed to work nicely with a
gamepad.

And if a PC version exists, can an Xbox version be far behind?

Can't resist, sorry. It is Czech and my attempt of translation is:

It is worth mentioning, that Sony Polyphony is developing Grand Turismo 4,
which will support online play, and they are also planning to release PC
version called Grand Turismo Professional!

Exactly and my bet is they won't change much for the port...so if GT4 has
a new multi option...don't count on Gt3 getting the same stuff.  It will be,
most likely, a quick and dirty port.
I'd like to be suprised tho..

Metal Gear Solid. I'd almost say Final Fantasy VII too, but its bugs negated
the improvements.

When you play with a gamepad, yes.

Try it with a Logitech Force Feedback wheel before you judge it any more,
though.

Similar has been posted to the flightsim ng for years.  I just don't buy it.
Driving physics is driving physics. You get it right, and it should be easy to
adjust it for 2, 20, 200 cars.  Now will you get every nuance of a car right,
especially with 100+? No way.  But I doubt they get it right with just one car
modeled either.  That is, I doubt any racing/driving sim models the subtelties
of an individual car model correctly.

Well, I'm with you there!

I think it will be Awesome, madden 2002 for PC is a carbon copy of 2001 for
PS2, and its GREAT.
