N2 Modem Blues

Can anyone point me in the direction of Init strings for N2? I've read the
N2FAQ (Nice Work Dave Sparks) and the fixes mentioned don't seem to cure
my problems. My biggest frustration is that I can connect with some
people, and not others. Modem will not even initialze- I'm aware of 39
player bug, Multi Car set requirement, and CD for dialup (Have even worked
with No-CD Patch) - All to no avail. Any help or assistance would be
greatly appreciated-

Kevin

For non-DSVD modems, the following have always worked well for me:

  USR:  AT&F1^M~~~&K0&M0&N6^M
  Others: AT&F^M~~~&K0&M0&N6^M

This may or may not help you but, below is a response I received from
Sierra Tech when I was having problems with my modem play.  My modem
always worked fine in N1 and everything else I used it for (Duke
Nukem, etc.)  I could even get my modem to run a multiplayer race in
N2 for anywhere between 5-20 laps and then it would suddenly
disconnect.  At any rate, I eventually gave up and bought a USR
Sportster 33.6.  It works great and, I hate to admit it but, it was a
well spent $100 in my opinion.
