N4, random breakdowns question

I see in the manual there is supposed to be a box to select random breakdowns,
but I don't see that box in the menu.  Has anybody seen the random breakdowns
box (no jokes please).

Thanks, James

I haven't been able to find it in the game either, but there are two
listings for mechanical breakdowns in your player.ini file. The first one is
listed under the entry [Single Race]. Look for the line
"MechanicalFailures=0" and change it to "MechanicalFailures=1". Then do the
same under the entry [World Championship]. Don't know if it actually works
or not as I usually wind up crashing and getting damaged way before any
mechanical failurs can occur. :-) Hope this helps.

I have a terrible memory. In fact my memory's so bad I can't remember how
long it's been since I've forgotten anything.

Just as a little aside since you mention 'crashing and getting damaged way
before any mechanical failurs [sic] can occur'.  When ICR2 came out it
introduced us to the concept of 'player breakdown'.  On my very first race,
during the *pace lap* the engine caught fire.  As I was on the pole I was *very*
unhappy with that particular modification...

I had the turbocharger fail the very second that my car hit the track at
Phoenix once.  ;)
