MGPRS2 random breakdowns?

by Russell Keatin » Fri, 08 Jan 1999 04:00:00

For all of the time I've spent with MGPRS2, I have never had a breakdown
(failure) on my car even though I have these options turned on in the menu.
Has anyone seen their car experience any problems in this sim?  I am
beginning to think that this feature might not be working.

Thanks,
Russell Keating

It never really worked in F1RS either.

But you would agree that random break downs are hosed on version 1.09?
Another thing I am not thrilled about is the lack of computer car random
breakdowns. I see them maybe one every 20 races or so. Nothing like
real life.

I have had one or two breakdowns. Had one suspension failure and one blown
engine like the one
note in the first thread.

Have to agree with most people on this, the breakdowns are pretty basic and
never seem to happen
very much. I bet Frank Williams would like one of these cars ;-)))

I have yet to see an F1 game that comes close to the number of retirements
seen in every real F1 race.  C'mon guys, is this so hard to do???

MGPRS2 random breakdowns?

Are you sure you've enabled all the breakdowns that are available in the
option screen? Both minor and major?

Are you guys running full length races?

I see cars retire fairly often with various breakdowns but I normally only
run 25-50% race lenghts.

Once I heard what sounded like an explosion and then saw the source. A car's
engine blew and was billowing heavy smoke. I followed it and watched it pull
over and then catch fire. Looked very real actually.

I might let the computer run a full race right now as an experiment and see
how many drop out.

Well I would think the breakdowns would happen 4x as often
in a 25% race and 2x in a 50% race. I would certainly expect
to see something break even in a 25% race.
