Nascar 4: Random Breakdowns exist.. just blew my motor at the start of a race

I just started a new Championship Season and as the race was green
flagged I noticed everyone blow by me... and then I heard the words I
was not expecting "Looks like you blew that motor!"

Nice way to start a season. :)

Did you start out in 1st?
It's easy at the start, with all the noise around you, to overrev the engine
especially if you start out in 1st.

Some people do nothing wrong.
The problem is, they do nothing.
And THAT is wrong.

No.. I was in third.  And I am pretty sure I did not overrev the
engine.  I punched the trottle and nothing happened.  I never saw my
speed rise above 60mph.

I will have to try this again.  I should have saved the replay.

Yeah, and if it is another guy who slows down (or rather fails to
accelerate) perhaps because he blew his engine, and you pass him
before you reach S-F, you'll get black-flagged (contrary to the manual
which states that this is kosher and your spotter will let you know if
you can pass him)...
