N2 Patch problems

by Robert Sutherlan » Sat, 03 May 1997 04:00:00

Okay, I've read about all the problems that people are having with the
N2 Patch, but let me throw in another couple of cents worth.

I've got the early version of N2 dated 11/06/96, and D/L'ed the right
patch.  I run with a Thrustmaster GP1 Steering wheel, and my big problem
is with the calibration of joy2 (gas/brake wings on the wheel).

Joy1 will calibrate fine, but when I go to joy2, it will calibrate the
right side great (gas), but the left side (braking) will slip over to
the right calibration area (acceleration) when fully depressed. I'm
assuming this is causing the "lurching" that everyone is talking about.

It doesn't do it with the original install, just the patch.  I remember
reading in the included .txt file that they tweaked the Joystick and
steering routines for some reason or another...looks like they went
overkill on us.  I've tried it under DOS, WIN95 - same thing on all of
them...and have currently dropped the patch all together for now.

Has anyone been in contact with the Sierra/Papyrus techs on this yet?
We've all experienced these problems, now let's just get them to fix'em
FAST!
