GPL crashes to desktop

XP Pro, AMD Athlon 1800+, Geforce4 MX440, and Sold Out's GPL CD Rom
(includes the three patches, 1.2, CPU speed Fix and D3D). Despite trying all
the various compatibility modes, I cannot get beyond the opening screen
before CTD occurs. Anyone got the solution?

you could try using gem+, did the trick for me. With that program you can
adjust d3d, which prevented me from getting started.

The "Allow Indexing" attribute must be checked for the GPL Folder and the
content.
Right-click, Properties, Advanced...

Did you download the 1.2 patch or use the one on the CD? You should use
the CD one.

Also, 16 bit arms on some cars cause crashes.

I too picked up the Sold Out version. I didn't get any D3D support until I
downloaded the latest patch. I know v1.2 it's supposed to contain all the
latest patches, but try downloading the D3D from any of the GPL sites. Couldn't
hurt.

Haven't played GPL in a while, but a client of mine had to ditch his MX440
as it doesn't support DX properly, expecially if it is an MSI model. Changed
to a Visiontek GF4Ti 4200 and has had no problems since, in RPGs or in
NR2002 or any other racing sim. He doesn't run GPL so it may not be a
similar issue.
