What are the recommendations for firewalls when joining & hosting gpl races?

I am informed that Zone Alarm adds latency to a GPL server, so any
alternatives or configuration tweaks out there?

Thanks

Tony

Tiny Software's firewall works well w. VROC/GPL.

I have used Guard Dog, version 1, to good effect.  Unfortunately Version 1 is
hard to find now, as I think they're up to Version 3.  I never tried Version 3,
but Version2 had a lot of baggage to it and wasn't worthwhile.  I found Version
1 at a local computer show for under $10USD.

I'm presently experimenting using Zone Alarm, with mixed results.  Last Sunday,
I simply could not connect to a VROC race while Zone Alarm was active, but it
has worked in the past.

My experiences are not from the server end, however, so take this for what it's
worth.  If you're interested in learning a bit about firewalls, etc and a lot
more, check out www.grc.com.  (Gibson Research's website).  Steve Gibson is
working on a firewall software package which should be released soon.  From his
track record, I'm sure that it will be a quality product.  (....and no, I don't
work for him.)

I too have the Logitech and love it. Still didn't make me any good at GPL...
nothing did!
