GPL: Hosting through a firewall

I'm sure I've seen something about how to solve the problem of IP
mapping from local to public ip addresses, but I wasn't listening hard
enough. Can someone please enlighten me.
Cheers,
Paul

Btw I can join races on VROC, it's just that VROC doen't know the other ip
address and so can't see my hosted session. If I'm communicating with
other hosts via my public ip (but I receive down my local ip) then surely
the situation can be reversed?
Cheers,
Paul

GPL: Hosting through a firewall

Paul,

I wanted to do this recently and mailed Alison with the question....

here's her reply.

Her faq has links to a site that have set it up to host thru a Linux
proxy/firewall. I use an NT firewall. The problem with GPL is that it
assigns the first free port that's available on the host and client and that
happens for each client that joins so its difficult to set the firewall up
without defeating the whole object of the firewall in the first place. I
didn't  manage to get it to work - I have to say I didn't try that hard -
just bought another isdn card for the pc I use to play GPL :)

hope that helps.

This is an issue that is supposed to be addressed in the 1.1 patch that
Randy Cassidy keeps telling us about.

Thanks, Michael, we're really hoping so, because we were planning to run the UK GPL
League on this connection. Too bad that the UK is 5 years behind the US when it
comes to communications.
Michael, as ever you the font of all knowledge on GPL, all us GPLers owe you a debt
of thanks.
Btw what happened to the Eagle setups?
Cheers,
Paul
