GPL connection to host thru router running dhcp

by JoHS » Tue, 02 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I've read everything I can find about this subject, and I have tried all
the core.ini-stuff described around (alternate_ip_address...) and the
vroc-stuff.
Once I turn on dhcp-functions between my gateway/isdn-router and pc/nic
running win98, I can't connect to host. I _do_ get respond from host
both using ping and gping.exe...

Is there any solution to this problem yet?

Or do I have to turn off dhcp and going back to fixed ip-addresses???

Thanks in advance,
JoHS, Norway

If the alternate_ip_address doesn't fix the problem, hopefully this
issue will be addressed in the upcoming patch.  However, in the
meantime, you maybe able to beat the system by "cheating".

Boot up your machine with dhcp turned on (to insure you are setup with
the right IP, gateway, etc.  Then use winipcfg.exe to determine the
addresses assigned to your TCP/IP connection.  Using this information
"hard code" this into your TCP/IP Network via the Control Panel (turning
off DHCP).  You may need to restart Windows.  Do this only when you are
wishing to run GPL online (until the patch comes).  For all other
purposes, it is best to fall back to your original TCP/IP setup (so make
sure you note those down first).

This is all theory, but it may just work.
