hosting through a Linksys router

Is there a way to host an online race in F1 2000 CS through a linksys
router via cable, or do I need to disconnect the router? And if so, what
settings have to be changed?  We tried to connect the other night, but the
IP address doesn't work using winipcfg

Go into the Linky's www setup screens and read the IP there. The Linksys is
the only device that holds a "external" IP.  Your PCs have no knowledge of
the "real" IP address - that's why winipcfg failed you.  There are some Java
tools to query the router for the address.  Or you can bookmark
www.grc.com's ShieldsUp port scanning page which shows your IP on the web
page when the page loads.  See www.practicallynetworked.com for some
excellent advice (both general adn tips/FAQ for your Linksys).

If you want trouble-free/work-first-time hosting I'd stick the host PC into
the Linky's DMZ for the duration of the race. But that sucks because you've
given up the security/protection that the Linksys gives to your PC.

To do this properly (and permanantly - without the DMZ) you'll need to know
which ports F12KCS needs and forward those to your hosting PC.  There's
gotta be a FAQ about this for F12K somewhere...
