GPL Behind a Linux Firewall - Update!!!

by John Simmo » Sun, 25 Apr 1999 04:00:00

When GPL first came out, I was runnning a 2.0.32 Linux kernel, and had
updated to the 2.0.35 kernel.  Using those kernels with ipfwadm and
ipmasq, I could host races, but not join them.

Last weekend, I changed over to the 2.2.5 kernel using ipchains and
ipmasqadm.  This morning, I tried joining a remote race - imagine my
surprise when it worked!

I thought I was going to have to wait for the patch, but that's not the
case. I just thought I'd let everyone know that cares.

Watch this web page for an update describing what I had to do.

GPL Behind a Linux Firewall - Update!!!

by 'John' Joao Sil » Sun, 25 Apr 1999 04:00:00

Wow, great news John, I've been waiting on the 1.1 patch to switch
my home network from a Win98 and a Linux box each pulling a DHCP IP
to IP/Masq coming through the Linux box.

Looks like I will go ahead and upgrade the linux kernel to 2.2.5 and
give IP Chains a try (I've been meaning to upgrade the kernel anyhow)

Pretty funny that GPL/VROC racing is great enough to have made me wait
this long.

Thanks a bunch for passing on the info, I will switch over this week.

Seeyas on the track.
