DX7a Problems

by Chris Help » Tue, 21 Dec 1999 04:00:00

I installed DX7a, and immediately began experiencing problems. The sound in
SCGT has enormous amounts of static, while Everquest (I know, OT) has weird
occasional video flickering an artifacts (rather like that old GPL problem)
when I switch to a view with lower resolution.

GPL seems OK, and actually easier to drive. FF feels more responsive.

I do have the very latest DX7 drivers for my Voodoo 3 card, though my
soundchip drivers may not yet have been updated for DX7.

Has anyone else seen similar problems?

Oops - I forgot to say I had been running the original DX7 with no problems
(except for the joystick applet in Control Panel). Upgrading from 7 to 7a
produced the symptoms described.

Ya had to be different, right?

:)

Seriously, DX7a fixed everything that DX7 broke on my system.  So far, no
SCGT problems.

But, I'm running a clean, officially patched 1.5.2 (.2, right?) version of
SCGT with no aftermarket add-ons.  That might make a difference?

DX7a Problems

I am experiencing some static in N3.  I haven't checked any other games or
tried to figure out what the problem is yet.  It is only slightly annoying.

I've also noticed stuttering sound in Toca2 and other titles as well....

Is it possible to go back to DX 7.0  ????

Would everyone please start stating the hardware you are using?
Saying you have static on a game does help anyone.  If you want to
complain... then *** to someone else.  If you want to try to help the
racing sim community, then be a little more descriptive.

This post goes for everyone... not just the person I replied to.
