Is that a Radeon?

Anyone try the recommended fix?  I have the same problem on an 8500.

I hevn't managed to try it on my home machine with an ATI 8500 LE yet,
but I hopefully will later.

It does play fine on my ATI Rage Fury Pro at work*, though.  Fine =
low 20's fps with default graphics options, except run at 800x600 in a
Window, and with no AI.  This is on a PIII 933 / Win2K Pro.

Seems this sim likes CPU power more than graphics.

If it's really choppy and you hear a stuttering sound, then I have the same
problem. I'll wait for the next demo. I'm not messing with my bios for a
beta demo.

Ya that is what I am getting, don't want to mess with BIOS either.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass.....but if you guys think changing the AGP
to 1x/2x in your BIOS is "messing"....and you a sim racers, chances are you
never set your BIOS settings properly in the first place.  BIOS settings are
as simple to deal with as reading a newsgroup, or typing a letter to
grandma.  Its completely simple stuff.....just don't change stuff that you
don't know what it does (and if you do...write down what you changed so you
can go change it back).

Have you thought that taking your AGP acceleration back to 1x/2x might speed
up your FPS in all your other sims as well?  It probably will.

TP  -:)

I know my bios well, I just don't like the fact of having to tweak it to
make one game work when everything else is working fine as is.
Any time you change PC settings, be it Bios or drivers or whatever it's
messing and can cause grief.  When a system is stable there is no need to
***with it.

I very much doubt dropping the AGP speed will improve any games FPS.

Well as you won't try it you will never know...

Explain why this would make it faster then.

If I was gonna mess with my bios for a beta demo this would be the one.
:-)

Poor implementation of the hardware standard, causes the the circuits to
NOT work as efficiently as possible due to the continual changing
designs(agp x1 x2 x4)  Most likely the bulk of the engineering was done on
x1 and that, while not the fastest, MAY be the most efficient....

Dang Dave Bullshitter.................  :)

And now I have and it doesn't work :-(

Frame counter starts at around 80fps, and falls rapidly.  Actual frame
rate never exceeds around 1fps, from what it looks like.

I have tried the various tweaks etc. posted here and elsewhere, to no
effect.

Oh dear.  I feel like I am missing out on the party.......

<snip LFS ATI woes>

And of course, it is only now that i have seen the fix of disabling
hardware TnL.  I'll try that.........

Party may be on again!
