N2 Patch: Rendition and Cyrix

by Robert Bear » Sat, 26 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Got the patch, and it totally cured the problem with my joystick not
working with my 3D Blaster and Cyrix cpu (with DMA on, too slow
without).  I wasn't expecting much when they said "reduced twitchiness"
in the README, but I ran a race at Rockingham with RENDDMA and it was
great.  Couldn't even set controls or  get out of the pits before patch,
and now it drives beautifully with everything turned on.  Of course,
they release the patch right after I had deleted the game of the hard
drive and started playing Rendition ICR2 w/ converted N1 tracks, so I
had to re-install everything, but so far, it seems worth the wait -
fingers crossed, of course.  And thanks for the save game, of course!

Awesome, isn't it? I was elated when I was able to run DMA mode on my
150+.  There are some complaints about the patch, but I'm elated!
It installed perfectly and EXCEEDED my expectations.
I thought the problem was something incurable with the Cyrix.

Anybody else not able to get into practice or warmup in Championship
Season using the patched Nasrend.exe?  Works fine in SVGA, but I can't get
in to race using the new rendition version.  Surely I'm not the only one
this is happening to?

Rob

I have the same setup and the patch fixed the joystick/wheel problem but I
get the twitchiness back when I try to overtake a number of cars.

It's a lot better than before though!
