This is gonna sound silly,,,,but just in case you haven't checked
already...
make sure that your steering help is turned OFF....
it happened to me once...I accidentally turned it on, I guess, in the
controls setup screen... (can also be enabled/disabled by hitting
ctrl/s)

Go into calibration.

Slowly move the stick left and right.  If there is a consistant value
that the pointer "jumps" then you know it's not a Nascar2 option that is
causing the problem.

I found that using the bios method to read the joystick, when the value
reaches approximately 500, it jumps to 0.

This ia a computer speed problem.

The thing is somehow Nascar2 decide not to use Nascar2's way of reading
the stick.  It uses either the bios (DOS) or driver (Win95) and if the
driver isn't right, it appears to use the bios even under windows.

This is what I found while I was hassling getting the wheel to work
under Win95.  Once I got all the drivers set right, the problems
disappeared.

Another possibility is some "dirt" in the pot causing a bad "spot".
Some form of cleaner would be needed to remove the "dirt".

Since you changed joysticks, the "dirt" problem doesn't sound likely but
it's still possible.

To correct this problem you need to make a speed adjustment on the game
card... have you tried that? I used to have this problem too... but a
variable speed game card is cheap, like $12 if you just get one at your
local computer store (like one that sells clones, not one of the big
commercial ones). Since you said you have a CH Gamecard I assume it has a
speed adjustment anyways?  My problem was with my T2 but I am sure a
joystick that has too great a range of motion for the computer speed would
do the same.

The problem existed not only in NASCAR but in other games too, but not all
of them. So it may not be a problem with NASCAR at all, just with
hardware...

Just a possibility anyways.
