Help with running gpl please

by bigbadbo » Sat, 01 Mar 2003 06:59:15

Hi,

Could someone out there help me please. I am running Windows 2000
Professional, I have a Voodoo5 card. I have loaded all the game patches and
have the latest Voodoo drivers.
I can run the game in software mode but cannot run it with 3dfx it just
refuses to run after the first GPL window. I was advised to download the d3d
patch which I did but when I try to run GPL in this mode my graphics are
confused. I would be most grateful if anybody can help as I am getting very
frustrated with not being able to start playing.

Many thanks,
Bob Green.

Not sure what you mean by this. Did gpl work and just look bad?

Have you renamed your core.ini.sample to core.ini?

there is no support for 3dfx in Win XP,possibly same for Win2k.You must run
in d3d.Download d3d patch from www.papy.com
and follow instructions.Dont forget to add those D3D lines to your
core.ini.Friend had voodoo 5 in XP.Frame rates were nothing
special.Nascar2002 had graphical glitches(blocky infield ,etc).Don't know
about GPL though.
You might be better off running it under Win98 where 3dfx  is supported
Anyone else have thoughts?

FYI, there's plenty of support for 3dfx (glide) in WinXP and Win2k.
Just get the latest drivers from http://www.tdhq.net/

V5 framerates are about the same as with GF2MX (in D3D), and in glide
games (such as GPL) it really flies :) In N2002 there are some issues,
and the N2003 demo wouldn't run at all...
