GPL, dual video cards?

by Hamme » Thu, 13 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Well, I just got blown away.  I got a new PC recently and went away
from 3dfx, getting a GeForce card.  In N3, for example, it looks fine
on the software renderer (non-3dfx).

So today I loaded up GPL on this new machine for the 1st time... IT'S
FUGLY!!  It's nowhere near 3dfx quality grahpics.  In fact, I find near
unplayable.  The highest resolution offered is 640x480... it's real
fugly.

What can I do??  Should I take my Voodoo3 out of my old machine and run
it in the new one, giving up my GeForce for other games??  Can I run
both in the same machine, telling GPL to use the 3dfx while having
other games use the GeForce?  I don't know how to do that, even if it's
possible.  That would require 2 AGP slots instead of one, right off
that seems a problem to me.  Or, I don't know what I'm talking about :)

Anyone have any advice??  Even an URL for education purposes I would be
grateful for.  I'm stumped.  I can tell I'm not going to be playing GPL
on this GeForce card :(

thanks all, I'm hurtin for a GPL fix.

Look deep into this newsgroup

To use Geforce u need to run GPL in OpenGl for which u need a patch and
must make some tweaks to the geforce.  I believe u can dl the Opengl
patch from papy.com, but as far as tweakin it to run good, u gonna have
to look down this list.  You aren't the first.

well, you could pick up a voodoo2 (PCI) for pretty cheap..... otherwise the
opengl patch is the way to go. good luck.
