F1RC: Tip for LWFF split axis

by David No » Thu, 15 Feb 2001 08:58:07

Below is a post from the High Gear forum by Bazza. It worked for me.

"This worked for me, but no guarantees. I found the split axis detection a
bit iffy. What usually happened is that the Accelerator would be detcted on
"Accelerator -" and the brake on "Accelerator +" (as opposed to Combined
Pedals +- for non-split axis). This may sound OK, but when you let go of the
accelerator, I was automatically braking.
Evetually, I got it to work with "Accelerator -" on throttle and "Brake -"
on brake. Here's what I did.

Press both brake and Accelerator then clicked Brake. After each attempted I
lifted off on the Accelerator a tad and clicked again. I repeated this (in
very quick succession - In other words, repeated clicking whilst easing of
on the accelerator) until it detected "Brake -" and viola. The Accelerator
is detected as per usual. It was always the Brake I had trouble with.

Hope this helps, it sure improves the driving."

F1RC: Tip for LWFF split axis

Did any of you get to program one of the LWFF-buttons asigning it to
'Escape' in the game ?
By the way, after some trail-and -error work indeed gave me split axis.
Thanks.
Nevertheless, when I go off the throttle I think the loss of speed is much
too high. Needs some adjustment I think. Also, maybe the two of you could
tell me how long it took you to get enough feedback from the game to prevent
the Ferrari to go into a spin ?
Also, one way of reducing the amount of spin is to put the
accelerator-setting to exponential. The same works with the brakes as it
clearly decreased my number of lock-ups in one lap.

BTW, I did some long hours playing the demo. After shutting down the
computer it is quite difficult to walk 'a straight line'. The sense of speed
together with the 3d converted 2d info really tackles my brains !
