What do you wanna see in N2K3?

Generally, I'm happy with how N2K2 turned out.  How would you improve
the next incarnation?

for me:

Ability to stall when using manual clutch.

End of wall riding penalty.

Purely cosmetic, but allow shadows to be cast on the cars.

Tweaking of AI and rules implementation is hopefully a given.

Squeezing that last drop of juice out of the nicely maturing graphics
engine.

More tracks.  Maybe Riverside for example - and didn't the Winston Cup
boys go to Suzuka a few years back?  Failing this, fantasy
roadcourses.  They've done it before.  This would, imo, increase
international appeal of the product - especially if European tracks
were considered.  And how about Rockingham, UK (Richard Petty
Experience is going to run/is running here) or Lausitzring, Germany.

Don't mess with multiplayer or controller configuration.

Going off into cloud cuckoo land now (and away from my own topic!),
but ASCAR should commission a mod.  This would increase awareness of
the fledgling series and help broaden fanbase.  I knew nothing of
NASCAR before I bought N1, but once I was into it I -had- to see a
race live.  I've since been to C***te (my fave since N1) for WC and
Califoria for Busch.  That's all because of the game.  I based a
holiday in the States around a sport I'd been made aware of through a
computer game.  That's powerful marketting...

racable ai
The abililty to remove the wallriding penalty for league races
The ability to for servers to ban driving aids
racable ai
Realistic damage
End of bogus black flags online
Buyers only allowed 1 online name tied to CD key
racable ai
A solution to wreckers leading to a permanent ban
local yellows on road courses
abilty to manually throw a yellow for RC league races.
racable ai
save race, even if it can only be done in the pits
ability to sort servers in the online arenas, ie, block out arcade,
passworded or superspeedway races.
oh , and did a say racable ai

all of these can be done and would imporve the quality of the game but I
would be surprised to even see 1 or 2 put into the next game.

If there was realistic damage there would be no need for a wall rider "fix"
to begin with.

I'll pretty much agree with your suggestions with the exception of the one
Sierra ID per CD. What if you have more than one person per household
playing? I wouldn't want to share my rankings with a sibling.

If everyone had to pay for their own id, they would take a hell of a lot
more care with it.

dirty windshields, with tear offs during pit stops.

Yes, there aren't enough wrecks caused now by people not seeing other cars
and giving the room they should, lets make it even harder for people to see
:)
It might work in a forced***pit view mode but beyond that has little value
IMHO.

I'm all for folks taking care on the track, but I dont think this is the
right way to encourage that they do so.

Maybe some pay-to-race solution will re-appear for you to spend your money
on.

I'm sure parents everywhere will appreciate your generous line of thinking.
I know I'd love having to buy two copies when there is only one computer in
the house.

MadDAWG,

Even if your son has his own computer, I don't relish the idea of
having to buy a 2nd CD just so we can race each other on our home LAN.

Would be neat, but noobs would find a reason to complain about it. Besides,
they would use it as they only run Daytona, Talladega and now Coca Cola.

Not an end, but a fix would be nice. The wall riders were a rampant issue
that had to be addressed.

True, this is just eye candy for after the race since I drive in-car.

AI is a big issue for offliners and should be kept up with I agree. The
rules need tweaking, but have to be bent in order to prevent cheaters and
such. I'd like to see a 'happier medium' between how the rules work and
preventing lawn mowers and pit runners.

More eye candy that would draw criticism for having to upgrade computers
AGAIN for the newest release.

I agree, but please don't hold your breath on this one. The best shot at new
tracks is add-ons for the Busch and Craftsman Truck series' since they are
NASCAR entities and run on other tracks than the WC boys.

Multiplayer is in bad need of addressing IMO. With stout servers and leagues
abounding, it seems that lag/warp is at an all time high even with ther
proliferation of residential broadband. Until EVERYONE has broadband (only
about 20% of the US has access) they need to streamline the netcode so
dialups and slower ISDN & ADSL connections do not affect the experience and
are playable on their ends as well.

There actually was some NASCAR involvement early on I think, but they have
bigger fish to fry. I doubt you'll see a NASCAR division in our lifetime
that revolves around a sim. The sim world can not afford the dollars it
would take to get NA$CAR's attention since they have hit the big time...

Yep that sucks too. I just don't like the idea of one ID per CD. Another
example is Flashpoint is putting on a powder puff race this weekend for the
ladies. Now my LPI may not be the greatest but I wouldn't want to turn my
girlfriend loose wit my Sierra ID because I may never get my LPI back. :)

So let her buy her own freakin' CD.  ;-P

First and foremost: fix the various bugs in N2002... including a *real* fix
for the wall-riding problem that eliminates the dangerous scenarios we got
now.

- Abilitiy to filter the racelist on 'Sierra'.

- Better cheat protection/detection.

- Dynamic shadows that are cast over cars too.

- Real simulation of a clutch with adjustable/defineable "slip-"/
engagement-point - instead of the "joke" we got now.

- Ability to stall engine.

- A better read-out for tirewear that display "wear-bar's" for I/M/O part of
tire.

- Flat-spotting of tires

- Ability to store/save worn/used tires and then re-fit them during
testing/practice sessions.

- More defineable race-options / limtis to be set by host/server. (including
ability to turn off 'wall-riding' detection)

- A real save-game (It's about time Papy! - the offlines leagues are almost
completely "gone" now)
FWIW, I never race the AI's myself.

- Local yellows on RC's

- Ability to drive behind the wall and fix "big problems" in online races.

- Allow hosts to adjust no. of pacelaps and pacing speed.

- More Autochat messages mapped to keypad / numeric keys.

- More damage levels / improved damage. Better engine damage.

- Visual tire-marks (doughnuts) /paint damage on cars.

- Better physics.

- Improved sound, graphics and general preformance.

- Track-making tools..

- RPY-export filters.

- Lap-charts.

- Winners circle.

I'm still waiting for my Official NROS License to arrive in the mail !

I want changing weather conditions...hot dawg wrappers flyin in the air,
and kitty litter on the track after cautions, and be able to race from
sunset into night at the night races.
