Dos 7 versus Dos 6.22 for running Sims

Which is a better platform to do Sims in?  How do I re-install Dos 6.22
in my hard drive without deleting the other and how can I get it to
appear in the F8 boot menu?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I am concerned DOS 7 is as good as 6.22. You will
only get the option at the F8 key if you installed Win95 on
your system that was running 6.22 at that time. If you
reinstall it now you WILL buggar Win 95.

Stick with Dos 7/Win 95. The Dos gets slightly more
conventional memory anyway.

I do not recommed re-installing DOS6.22, but here is how it works (how I
would do it):
What you need is a 2nd computer and the DOS 6.22 installation disks.
Install 622 on
the 2nd computer (or take the installed version), then copy the system
files Io.sys, Msdos.sys and command.com to a diskette and rename them
Io.dos, Msdos.dos and command.dos. Also do so with your configuration
files autoexec.bat and config.sys.
Then copy all these files to your root dir. (i.e. C:\) After that, copy
all the DOS files (in C:\DOS) to your HD (also to C:\DOS).

Now start Win95.
Look at the File Msdos.sys. This file is write-protected, so unprotect
it by choosing "properties". Insert the following lines:

BootMenu=1
BootMe***fault=1
BootMe***lay=10

Restart Win95. The boot menu appears. There should now be the position
8: "previous DOS Version".
If not, forget it and kill all the copied files (well i never tried this
procedure, but i think it might work;-).

OR

Uninstall Win95, then install Dos6.22, then install Win95. This will
work, since I have done so on my computer. But here you have to delete
all your Windows programs.

BTW there is no need to re-install 6.22 since DOS7 is as good as 6.

bye..
