OT: GF2 GTS - 28.32 or 23.11 drivers

by James Pickar » Tue, 28 May 2002 12:34:13

I have a P3, 933 with 512 running dual boot Win98 and XP Pro.

Which drivers would be best for each OS?  28.32 run pretty good on each, but
they seem to crash every now and then and I want some real stability.

Thanks in advance!

James

Are you running the same drivers on both Win98 and XP Pro?  Seeing crashes
on both?  Make sure you've got the proper drivers for each operating system.
There are different downloads (check the file sizes) for the two OSes.  If
you've got a Creative Labs sound card, try upgrading to the latest drivers
and then turning down the hardware acceleration (a couple notches to the
left).  I run 28.32 with a GeForce2 MX400 w/64 MB on Windows XP Pro here,
and haven't had any problems.  Also try running Dr. Watson in the background
on both systems to capture the error message if you have a crash.  The good
doctor also functions fine on XP.  See Help and Support for details.

Hi James, I'm running a GF2 GTS 64mb on Win98se with the 29.41 drivers. They
seem to be faster than the 28.80s I was using before.

James,

I've got a a pair of GF2 GTS's here, both running fine w. 28.32 (after
trying a lot of others) under WinME.  Make sure you've got the MS-certified
(WHQL?) version of 28.32, there were some betas and early releases that
weren't quite kosher.  And double-check yer sound-card drivers; they're more
often the culprit than the vid drivers in my experience.
