GF2 driver update, all messed up!

My system program updates got a negative direction...
The DX8.0a update was good, also IE5.5 worked. But then I
updated the GF2 drivers from Creative's pages, and now my
Win98 computer is dead! (I am writing from my university
"professional" Linux system now... At home only a telephone
connection, ... in my Win98 system I had a cable modem,
did I really say "had"...)

Everything seemed to work well: GPL, N4, F12000CS, GP3, F1RC,
but when I started SCGT, something happened. And now I cannot
even start my Win98 PC! The only way to see the starting
menu (the one with "press DEL to ...") is to disconnect
the electricity. But not even this DEL works, neither the
boot disk... There is just a black screen! No matter how
many times I press the reset button... Quite unhappy... :-(

I cannot even check the version of the GF2 update, 'cause the
***y thing is dead...

Arto

PS You perhaps shoud never update anything, if it works...  :-(

There's no way installing video card drivers can overwrite the bios on your
motherboard.  Something else must have happenned.  Check all hardware
connections, in particular check the GF2 is seated properly in the AGP slot,
and that your RAM isn't loose.  If everything seems ok, then remove your
hardware piece by piece and keep trying to boot.  If your system won't boot
with just the video card in, try another video card.  If the motherboard or
GF2 are dead you should be able to get a replacement under warranty.

Also, check the fuse in the power lead, and check the power pack is working.
