Just to satisfy my own curiousity. I started off with the Ferrari 312
but I decided to diversify and try the other cars, esp. the Eagle T1G,
the BRM P115 and the Brabham BT24. I did not mess too much with the
fantasy cars or the Lotus 49. In any case I really disliked the BT24;
the low-revving, high-torque motor and twitchy handling is not my
style. Throttle control is paramount and it's just not me.

The BRM is a load of fun actually. It doesn't demand too much accuracy
or driving skill for that matter. The engine is also very benign except
near the red. It fun but it's not fast. Great for that last night blast
before bedtime. And the H16 sounds cute.

The T1G is a sweet car like the 312. No terrible vices unlike the other
cars. Fast enough. I await Alison Hine's setup for the T1G.

Well I went back to the 312 and this is the car for me. Alison's setup
is great. It makes the 312 supremely driveable. After messing with the
others, it's great to settle down to clearly superior car. Is the Lotus
49 better? Probably but overall the 312 is a complete package and it's
less tiring to drive.

Favourite track? Probably Rouen. A little over 2 minutes of country
road. The trees, some of those really diabolical corners. And that
hairpin. This is the best.

favourite track: watkins glen. 2nd is rouen :-) then glen is a very
demanding, very short track where you have to get into the right groove.
right-left-right through the esses, breathe in, concentration on braking
for the loop, acceleration from the loop, breath out. then right-left
and calm down for the ninety :-) this track has some very difficult
turns/braking points on a very short distance: braking for and
acceleration from the loop, taking the bend and the ninety. i loooove
this one :-) rouen is of course very nice too and i also started to like
this track after i could do the hairpin several times in a row without
crashing :-)

favourite car: brabham. 2nd: ferrari. they both have character - the
brabham is very difficult to drive, but because of its high torque at
low revs, driving patient is kind of a zen experience - you just drive
and your mind is driving around the track :-)
the ferrari is much more impulsive and ... well ... italian. the best
'weapon' (as someone in this thread stated before) is the lotus, but i
find this car boring and i almost consider driving the lotus as cheating
;-) and i made my experiences with lotus hotlappers - maybe that's why I
associate the lotus with reckless driving ;-)

Throttle control is pretty much the central point of all the
cars once you start aproaching the limits.

What's better ?  If the criteria is lap times then go
here:  http://216.13.117.36/~schubi/fastlaps.htm
There's a reason that just about every top ten lap time
was done in a Lotus.

The Nurburgring.  Although I must admit that I'm having trouble
getting away from the Ring to even try the rest. But I have spent
time at Monza and the Glen, and they are not in the same league.

Car: Ferrari (of course)

After having driven the workman like Eagle exclusively for the first six
months after GPL released (a great chassis in it's own right), I moved on
to the Ferrari and fell in love with the way the short wheelbase really
responds to control input, sure the Ferrari engine lacks the Eagle's or Lotus'
top speed, but it makes up for it with great brakes and pure driving pleasure.
Besides I've wanted to be a Scuderia Ferrari driver since I was a kid :-)

Track: Nurburgring.

No other track ever modeled in any sim has even come close to combining the
Ring's level of exciting and tricky road sections with flat out pedal to the
metal straights and even elevation changes that see your car catching air,
fun! fun! FUN! I will forever be thankful to Papyrus for having given me
the opportunity to drive the Ring. Close second is probably Spa and Monaco.

Seeyas on the track.

Car: The Brabham BT24.  Just shift when you REALLY need to.  Quick handling,
lightning-fast acceleration, and the F2/3 advantage (no loss in
power/handling, but a 50 lb advantage on the other cars) is nice :)

Track: 1st, Zandy.  Get through the first two 1st gear corners and get it up
to 3rd, and leave it there until the end of the lap when you get to uncork
it and slam it to the redline in 5th before slamming back on the brakes to
1st.  2nd, Monza.  Surprising that I, a Brabham driver (lower top speed)
would like this track, but it's just plain fun.  3rd for racing, Watkins
Glen.  The esses are awesome.  3rd for driving, The Ring.  I have yet to
break 11 minutes, but it's just plain cool!!!

I couldn't have said it any better myself.
Ferrari and the Ring it is. For exactly the same reasons.
Zandy's the close second for me, tho.

My favourite car is probably the Brabham; responsive handling, sturdy and
reliable construction, and although the engine isn't powerful it's very
comfortable to drive. It's not quite that fast, it's more important
that it suits my driving style. My second choice would be the Cooper,
particularly for an inexperienced driver such as myself.

At least until now my favourite circuit is Spa, although I expect the
Nrburgring to offer greater challenge once I get around to learn it.
Also, Monza offers good high-speed fun, and Zandvoort's smooth curves
seemed absolutely fantastic. Silverstone, on the other hand, seems utterly
dull, with its completely flat layout of absolutely uninteresting turns.
I'm yet to decide if the Autodromo Nacional is pathetic, or fun in a
somewhat perverse way.

Fave tracks, Spa & Mosport, I so much want to like the ring,
it was the main reason i bought GPL in the first place, but it's
just driving me nuts trying to lean it, currunt PB 10:19.05 lots

Favorite Car:  Lotus 49.  I just love the way that thing handles!

Favorite Track:  Hmm...  I really love Spa, Monza, and Watkins Glen.  They all
kinda tie in my book for the best racecourse.  Least favorite track is still
probably Mexico.  I just can't stand that track for some reason.  And I'd
probably like Rouen if I could ever figure out how to go one lap without
wrecking there!  <vbg>
