NASCAR 1.2 vs HAWAII

by mcha » Sun, 19 May 1996 04:00:00

I run NASCAR v1.2 and HAWAII.  In NASCAR, my Talladega car performs
differently than under HAWAII.  The lap times are pretty close, but the
lap characteristics are different.  In HAWAII, my back straight speeds
are faster (200 mph+) but I bleed more speed in the turns.  In v1.2, my
overall speed is slightly more steady.  Obviously, the difference is
enough to drive me crazy when trying to judge my lap time progress during
qualifying or a race.  I use visual markers on the track and check my
speedometer as I'm passing by.  I can tell how well I'm running based on
the speed at that point.

My question is, can I use the HAWAII NASCAR software to practice offline
such that I can work on a car setup off line using HAWAII performance
characteristics?

Thanks,
Sam

From DOS at the NASCAR prompt just type multi.exe -h -f (or what ever are your options)
You can now drive offline but you will only be able to go into preseason testing. You
can also call a friend over the modem and race him if he is using multi.exe too. The
spotter doesn't work but all of the other new options will.

Yes, instead of running Nascar.exe you need to run Multi.exe.  Be aware
however that you will only be able to do Preseason Testing and modem
racing, you will be unable to practice or race against the AI drivers.

Yes...You can run the MULTI.EXE (instead of NASCAR.exe) with the same
switches you normally run in NASCAR.  You can run Pre-Season testing, or
Multi-player races.  This will have all the current fixes and new
features.

Yes. Run MULTI.EXE the same way you run NASCAR.EXE. You can use Preseason
Testing to check setups and you can also modem race with AI. But you can't
run Single Race or Season races. Papyrus fixed a bug in the physics model
which was causing weight to move around on the car over time, and also
removed the "penalty" for analog throttle/brake controls. You'll probably
find that most of your setups push. I started almost all my MP setups from
scratch using the ACE setup. Remove wedge and move some weight to the rear
as a start and then start fine-tuning from there.
