Problem With Nascar 1.2

by Matt Adkiso » Tue, 25 Apr 1995 04:00:00

I loaded and installed Nascar v1.2 on my computer and was pleased with
the results I was struck by a car coming out of the pits doing about
700 mph and going accross the flow of traffic. As I kept playing, I
noticed that every car coming out of the pits would immediately dart
to the outside wall and then back down to the inside and then back
on to the track.  This happens every time a car comes out of the pits
This is not very amusing when you have the car damage on and are
leading a race. Im driving along and then all of a sudden my car
explodes.  This happened on all of the tracks I tried.  Has anyone
else encountered this bug?  Am I the only one?  I run a Packard Bell
Pentium 60 with 8mb of Ram in SVGA mode.  Any help would be GREATLY
appreciated.

I have seen this in previous versions of Nascar. I thought I read in the
readme.txt file for v1.2 that they fixed this. Which track did this
happen? I think that it only happens on certain tracks. Does anyone know
of the e-mail address of Papyrus? You could notify them of the bug.

Yeah, but I saw no car hit me.  Something just walloped me at the S/F
line at Michigan.  Blew my car to pieces.  I have the replay if the
Papyrus folks want it.

Nope.

Problem With Nascar 1.2

It sounds like you have a mismatch between your lap files and your NASCAR.EXE
1.2 uses a different lap file scheme, so if you have a 1.1 EXE and 1.2
laps (or vice versa) the AI (and pace) cars will behave like you
describe.
Please be sure to check that you didn't "backup" and restore your lap files
when backing up your settings, etc. These lap files would be in:
C:\NASCAR\TRACKS\????????\MAXPANIC, MINPANIC, etc...
Other than that, I can't imagine what's up, but this really sounds like
it's the problem to me...
