OT-Grand Prix Questions

by don hodgdo » Thu, 11 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I had the pleasure of talking to John Frankenheimer's wife this morning,
they are clients of mine, and I finally got up the nerve to ask her if she
could set up a short period of time for me to discuss the film with John. He
is out of town about to begin a new film, so it may be a while before he is
back in Los Angeles. If anyone has any burning questions they would like
presented to John concerning the making of Grand Prix, please feel free to
send them along and I'll do my best to get them answered.

OT-Grand Prix Questions

Wow hmm you are one lucky person...If you could, here is a couple of
questions right of my head.  Im not forcing you to take them you know ;).

First of all, who wrote the racing script?  Was it him or did he collaborate
with somebody else for the racing sequences?

Also, would he ever consider doing another movie about racing?  Well we can
dream, the Stallone movie and another one by him ;-)

Why the decision to shoot the movie in Super Panavision 70 ? It's a fairly
unusual method of film process that only a few directors have chosen in
history.

Also, please ask him if he considers producing the film on DVD.  Many of us
would pay ALOT for GrandPrix on DVD.  (tell him Ronin and the Train are
great movies btw hehe).

Finally, ask him what he thinks about the Star Wars Pod racing sequence in
terms of cinematography an (ok well it's a half-joke, just a geek like me
has to ask something like that hehe).

OT-Grand Prix Questions

Hi Don
ask him why we can't get Grand Prix in the UK! It's been deleted for ages
now. And yes, Ronin is a great film, the kind of film they don't make any
more (if that makes sense!). It's nice to see some car chases featuring our
far superior European cars for a change.

cheers
Andrew Olley
