hehe, a lot of drivers are getting POed that Watkins Glen desided to use
NASCAR rules for all events at the track. (marquee events, SCCA club
events, ect..) They want a black flag shown to all drivers and have them go
to the pits when ever there's a spin on track. They don't care how small
the spin is. Then when there's any kind of an impact, they want the Red
flag shown untill the accedent is taken care of. again, doesn't matter how
small an impact. The drivers are complaining that these flags are shown for
incidents that could be covered with a local yellow. The Safty crews are
also complaining because the day gets very long when there's a string of
spins (12+ hours).
I for one am glad there's at least one other track being built in
upstate NY. With luck they'll use the SCCA rules.
Around here the SCCA race workers are pretty sure of themselves. I even
seen one out on the track assiting a driver at a during a start of a race.
with F1 cars tho they get to where you are now so fast I am not sure if you
would. At the Dallas event we were flat told to stay off of track and jut
flag since the corner crew had a rep for getting cars out of harms way
fast.
