If they don't get either Spa or the 'Ring finalized, it will hurt the
game badly. And I wonder which version of Monza is going in. :)

Also, I think we need a British track... either one will do.

Not bad at all for a start. Missing? Quickly thought of Jackie Stewart
and Gilles Villeneuve,  and I'm not betting on either. I'd also like
to see Ronnie Peterson (is he out of the defined era, though).

Just check the AVI video of the pre-alpha of GPL.  You will see witch Monza
is in the game :)  Not the big one (with the oval track). I think the big
track was reserved for competitions like the 1000miles of Monza and
others... But in the AVI they is no chicane, fast turn, very kewl. The
talladega of F1.

Well, they are trying to get Silverstone and Brand's March (sp?).  In 1967
the Uk GP was in Silverstone but they also had a non-point race (kinda like
Nascar Suzuka) at the other track. I think it was called the International
Champions Race.

Gilles Villeneuve is also out of the defined era, he started F1 in 1976 (or
75 bad memory).  But still he could had raced in any era :-)   But if they
want to put him in the game I think they would have to do a seperate AI
style for just him ! (I'm a Gilles fan, he was born about 5mins where I
lived before in Berthier, Quebec.

Gilles Villenueve will never be in the game since it is based on the 1967
season, and he did not enter F1 until 1978 (?) driving a McLaren at
Silverstone.

Papyrus know how to develop a good racing car simulator (I still get a
great deal of satisfaction with ICR2 - still my favourite), so I'm
really looking forward to this one. I'm not that bothered about the
tracks. What I want is damn good physics and AI - something that I know
Papyrus have the skill to deliver.

So come on Papyrus - make it so!

Stewart started a couple of years later AFAIK, Peterson was early-late
seventies, and Villeneuve late seventies to early eighties.

Cheers!

A great applause for Papyrus' information policy! I'm serious. This is
a great middle way of giving out badly wanted news without getting
directly in the line of fire. Thanks Papy and Thor - keep this channel
open!

Then let us all combine our spiritual powers and chant together:
"Get the license for Nuerburgring and Spa."

If the architecture of GPL will be as open as in earlier titles, it
won't be a problem if some drivers and cars are missing. Give us a
paintkit (better yet, give Earl Ma and Michael Carver a paint kit) and
forget about the rest. :)

Thanks again for letting out this info. I really appreciate it.

Jackie Stewart started in F1 in 1965 driving for BRM.  He was
definitely active in 1967, driving the BRM H-16; didn't have too much
success that season as I recall, although he did finish 2nd to Gurney
at the Belgian GP.

Gilles drove his first GP for McLaren at Silverstone in 1977, before
moving on to Ferrari for the final 3 races of the season.

Ronnie entered F1 in 1969, driving a privately entered March 701.  He
then moved into the works team the following year.

Oops, my mistake.  Ronnie started F1 in 1970 with the 701.  I believe
MARCH made an experimental foray into F2 in 1969 with Ronnie as the
driver.

>Stewart started a couple of years later AFAIK

Couple of years earlier, actually. First GP was at East London in 65 (he
won the Italian GP later that year).

67 was a very poor season for Jackie with a very unreliable car. He had
just two finishes - 2nd at Spa (despite having to hold it in gear for
much of the race!) and 3rd at Le Mans.

BTW - he won the WC in the 69 season so that would have been quite a
debut year <vbg>

Cheers,
Richard

>The same is valid for this list of featured drivers:

For info, here is what I believe to be the missing drivers:

Kurt Ahrens jnr (Nurburgring race only)
Bob Anderson
Richard Attwood (Mosport only)
Giancarlo Baghetti (Monza only)
Dave Charlton (Kyalami only)
Piers Courage
Hubert Hahne (Nurburgring only)
Brian Hart (Nurburgring only)
David Hobbs
Guy Ligier
John Love (Kyalami only - should have won but had to pit for fuel!)
Bruce McLaren
Gerhard Mitter (Nurburgring only)
Silvio Moser (Silverstone only)
Jackie Oliver (Nurburgring only)
Mike Parkes (Zandvoort & Spa only)
Al Pease (Mosport only)
Alan Rees (Silverstone & Nurburgring only)
Ludovico Scarfiotti
Jo Schlesser (Nurburgring only)
Georges Servoz-Gavin (Monte Carlo only)
Moises Solana (Watkins Glen & Mexico City only)
Mike Spence
Jackie Stewart
John Surtees
Sam Tingle (Kyalami only)
Eppie Wietzes (Mosport only)
Jonathon Williams (Mexico only)

I think that's it <g>

All drove at least three races except where indicated.

I think Papy may have a hard time tracking down some of these to get the
appropriate licences.... ;-))

Cheers,
Richard

I think John Surtees is still around somewhere.  Saw him interviewed on TV
in one of Sky's recent Golden Racing series.

It's called Brands Hatch (not March, and no apostrophe). It's my local race
circuit and a very fine one too.  The Grand Prix track is awesome with huge
long straights, difficult chicanes and the phenominal plunging Paddock Hill
bend, it's a real racing driver's circuit.  My only criticism is that even
today it remains quite narrow with minimal run-off areas (primary reason why
GP cars can't run there today)... but watching the British Touring Cars
attempt to jostle for position is a real heart pounding experience.  Most
the time the circuit runs the Indy circuit which is a sub-1 minute portion
of the main circuit - so named Indy since the CART teams raced here in 1978
for (I think) a non-championship points scoring event.

They weren't that old when they started racing, John.  Sheesh, do some
research!  ;-)
