How about F1WGP vs. GP3?

Now that we've had enough time to dissect GP3, how does it compare in the
end to F1WGP? I can't find much coverage of this title. Based on
screenshots, F1WGP appears to look a lot better, but how do the physics
compare? Also, I enjoy the full GP experience more than hot-lapping, so I'm
interested in a comparison of the AI, as well. Is it still very much like
OF1R? It's selling for less than $40 CDN here, so perhaps it's worth a try?

I have both F1 2000 and F1 World Grand Prix.  World Grand Prix was pretty
good, but I had to stop playing it after awhile.  The controls seemed very
sensitive to me.  It worked fine for alittle bit, but then it went away
and I never could get it back to how it was.  That and it's missing Indy,
which for me who grew up in Indy and hasn't missed a race there since 1987
(and not about to start either) is a big deal.

I have been playing with F1WGP for a month now.  In terms of graphics and Track
layout it is spectacular.  There is no comparison between Gp3 in this
department, as Crammond could learn from these guys.   As far as physics are
concerned Gp3 is way ahead in this.  F1WGP is more of an arcade game then
anything.  I will tell you what, it is alot of fun to play.  For an overall sim
go with Gp3 as F1WGp is not a sim.  In the fall Ubisoft is releasing it's  3rd
F1 title which should easily surpass Gp3 in all phases of the game.

I haven't messed around with F1WGP for awhile now, but graphics are excellent,
and the replay allows you to step right into it.  In other words, you can stop
the replay at any point, then start driving from that point.  That way, you can
re-run specific scenarioes that might have given you a problem.  Nice feature!

It also has some interesting views - ie: an in-the-helmet view, and you can
have it turn your "head" into the turn ala CPR.  Another nice feature.

However, things are not perfect.  The main problem is that the brakes are
EXTREMELY sensitive no matter what you (or maybe it should be I) do --
especially in sim mode.  You're constantly locking the brakes and almost coming
to a stop.  Thats' a major problem, and Eidos supposedly has said that they
have no plans to patch it.

That's about it, regarding the plusses and minusses.

They are working on a patch. You can discuss all your problems with the
coders of Lankhor. Can you believe it? This is the only game where you can
speak with people of Lankhor on a forum. So i can tell you they are working
on it. The braking issue is known. Also a lot of other thing.

Here is the site of the forum http://pub3.ezboard.com/flankhorandcof1wgp99pc
(names of Lankhor guys are 'SirPsycho' and 'TuO'

Its true that Eidos didnt do much advertising. I can tell you that Lankhor
have no longer a contract with Eidos. So the F1 WGP 2000 will be made by
another team. I think the guys from Lankhor are cool and support a lot. A
pity that Eidos didnt do a lot for them.
