www.gamespot.com is also previewing the game. In one of the screenshots,
you can actually tell that this game might use the Viper Racing engine
(look at the wheel shot like the one in Viper Racing where you could see
the front brake discs glow).

IMO Nascar Heat will be the Viper Racing of Nascar Sims. Nascar 4 will be
the GPL. Viper was pretty good and now they (NH developers) have Hasbro to
back them. It will be interesting to see who gets their game out first.
You might say that Papy is feeling a little "Heat" to get moving on N4
dont't you think?

Ouch! Considering what Hasbro is currently doing to their sim developers
(by now they're all gone I guess), this is a good thing...

Is there already a Nascar team sponsered by Pokemon? ;^)

NASCAR 1 and 2 had better multiplayer than N3, with Hawaii and TEN
respectively than NASCAR 3 has, and neither of those had any kind of
TCP/IP support built in let alone 8 players.

The promises on the box are meaningless, if Hasbro decides to put up a
dedicated racing system it will be far superior than what we have now
with the WON matching service.

Nobody is talking about the NASCAR Heat "challenges". That could be a
fun and different idea. I like the concept of scenarios. Monaco Grand
Prix 2 had something similar, I think

Ed Martin said he wouldn't try to out Kaemmer Kaemmer, and build a GPL
with fenders. Kaemmer is "the man" when it comes to building a
realistic driving simulation, but he isn't a multiplayer guru - I
believe that is Cassidy's department.

Garcia and MGI may not be Kaemmer and Cassidy, but judging from their
first entry Viper racing, second best isn't all that bad. Hasbro wants
Heat to be a fun game with some new twists though, not *just* a
simulation.

Ed also said that Hasbro realizes the importance of multiplayer and
the internet, and not if but when they decide to enter that arena they
intend to do it right - unlike Sierra and the N3/WON kludge.

I wouldn't say that. Ed Martin has already stated right here that they do
not have any expectations of competing with Papyrus multiplayer right out of
the chute, as he said they do it better than anyone. Of course, they have
been doing it a while now.
However if Heat is successful, who knows what lies down the road.
A little competition is good for everyone, and we - the consumer - win from
it.

Yes Phil that was cool in MGP2, the old last race of the season and you have
to block another team to help your team mate win the title.......

Well, lots of people don't care about multiplayer in racing sims. So
Nascar Heat
is doomed because of limited MP or because it's not out yet?

Show me a Nascar sim with improved physics, and I'll buy it.
