NASCAR HEAT V5 5500 4X FSAA PICS AT SimHQ

Hello all,

We at SimHQ.com just posted some exclusive NH pics taken with a V5 5500 4X FSAA
at 1024.  The depth preception of FSAA is an INCREDILBE drivers aid that has
been LONG overdue!  NO jagggies appear while viewing the entrance of the
corners from afar.

ENJOY, and forgive the bad driving habits of the driver in the pics!  :)

Although there are no jaggies in these screenshots, they DO look very
'fuzzy' compared to the Geforce screenshots.  But then again,
3Dfx/Glide has always been known for that 'fuzzy' look.

That is due to the antialiasing. If you want a sharper image you can leave
the FSAA off, but I much prefer it being a little fuzzy than full of jaggies
and crawling pixels.

Solution.....run at the highest resolution possible to reduce jaggies
with FSAA off. :)

Running in higher resolutions will reduce jaggies, but it will not get rid
of them and it doesn't get rid of crawling or sparkling pixels at all. It is
personal preference really and after seeing it first hand I would rather
play at 1024x768 with 4X FSAA than at a higher res without the FSAA.

Actually, it's probably got more to do with the Level Of Detail (LOD)
settings on the V5 than it does with the FSAA.  The latest V5 drivers enable
a LOD slider that let you set the balance between sharper textures and FPS.
Positive values yield faster framerates but blurrier images, while negative
values give sharper images with a bit of a performance hit.  On faster
machines this performance hit may not be noticable.  I think the LOD in the
earlier driver release defaulted to LOD of 0 (halfway between sharper and
blurry extremes) and gave somewhat blurry images.  Since NASCAR Heat has a
3D***pit, the LOD setting is apparently determining the sharpness of the
dashboard textures.  I have my V5 set on maximum sharpness and 4X FSAA and
everthings looks good and sharp in the games I play.
